π± Roots Ecosystem
Key Components
$MEAD
$MEAD tokens are received by collateralizing Berachain ecosystem assets into the Roots protocol. $MEAD can be staked in the stability pool to earn additional yield, making it a critical asset for maximizing returns within the ecosystem.
$BERA
$BERA is the primary gas token used for transaction fees and staking on Berachain. Validators bond $BERA to participate in securing the network, making it essential for network operations and security.
$WBERA
$WBERA is the wrapped version of $BERA, which allows for it to be used by various smart contracts such as liquidity pools and other defi protocols
$HONEY
$HONEY is a stablecoin used across various dApps within the Berachain ecosystem. It is frequently used in trading pairs within liquidity pools, as a proxy for an on-chain dollar.
BERA LP Tokens
BERA LP tokens represent a user's share in various liquidity pools. These tokens are minted by providing liquidity in exchanges such as BEX or Kodiak. Within the Roots ecosystem these are used for collateralization and yield generation (if they are whitelised for $BGT emissions).
$BGT
$BGT is the governance token earned through providing liquidity and participating in the ecosystem. $BGT tokens can be staked to influence governance decisions and guide the future direction of the chain. $BGT tokens are not transferrable but can be converted in a 1:1 ratio for to $BERA
$iBGT
iBGT is a liquid staking derivative of $BGT issued by Infrared
BCV
BCV (Block Captured Value) is a value stream distributed within the ecosystem to the chain's stakeholders, representing additional value captured from network activities.
Interaction and Flow Between Tokens
The interaction and flow between these tokens are designed to create a synergistic and rewarding ecosystem:
Providing Liquidity and Securing the Network
Users provide liquidity with approved Berachain assets to secure the network and receive $BGT and further delegate it to earn BCV.
Collateralizing Berachain Assets with Roots
Chosen assets can be collateralized in the Roots protocol to mint $MEAD stablecoin. The current list of available assets for borrowing can be found here (opens in a new tab).
Using $MEAD
$MEAD tokens can be easilly swaped on various partner exchange protocols such as BEX, Kodiak, OOGA BOOGA and used to either provide liquidity for asset pairs, or just be spent on other assets of user's choice
Staking $MEAD
$MEAD tokens can be staked in the stability pool, where users earn additional yield from the liquidation proceeds.
Staking $BGT
Roots protocol autimatically stakes $BGT to maximize economical impact
Earning $BGT and BCV
As users participate in collateralizing with their assets, they earn $BGT and BCV while they are free to spend their newly minted $MEAD as they like
